Scope of Work
Our team was responsible for the complete technical production and design of the festival. The scope of work included:
- LED Screens: We installed and managed a series of high-definition LED screens across the site, ensuring clear visibility of performances, speeches, and video content for attendees. These screens were strategically placed to maximize engagement and provide immersive experiences.
- Staging: The event featured multiple stages, each uniquely designed to cater to the diverse array of performances, talks, and activities. We constructed robust, visually appealing stages that were both functional and safe, meeting the specific needs of each performer and event segment.
- Lighting: Lighting played a critical role in setting the tone and mood for UK Black Pride 2024. Our team designed dynamic lighting setups that highlighted the energy and spirit of the festival, incorporating vibrant colors and innovative effects to enhance both day and night-time activities.
- Audio: Providing audio for both the event and sound that was monitored for neighbours was paramount. We deployed top-of-the-line audio systems to ensure that every beat, word, and note was heard clearly across the expansive festival grounds. Our audio setup was tailored to accommodate live performances, DJ sets, and spoken word sessions, delivering an unmatched auditory experience.
- Power Distribution: With multiple stages and installations, efficient power distribution was key. We provided a reliable power infrastructure that ensured seamless operation across the entire event, minimizing any risk of downtime.
- Custom 360-Degree Accessible Viewing Platform: One of the highlights of our involvement was the design and construction of a custom 360-degree accessible viewing platform. This platform was designed to be fully inclusive, allowing all attendees, including those with mobility challenges, to enjoy the performances from an elevated and immersive perspective. The platform became a symbol of the festival’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
Challenges & Solutions
- Venue Scale: The sheer size of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park presented logistical challenges. To address this, we conducted detailed site surveys and simulations to plan optimal placement of stages, screens, and technical infrastructure. This ensured that the festival ran smoothly and that all equipment was seamlessly integrated into the space.
- Weather Conditions: Outdoor events in the UK always come with the unpredictability of weather. We anticipated this by using weather-resistant equipment and structures, and by having contingency plans in place for any adverse weather conditions.
- Audience Engagement: With a diverse audience, it was crucial that our technical production enhanced engagement across all demographics. We achieved this through creative lighting designs, strategically placed LED screens, and an audio setup that catered to both large crowds and intimate experiences.

UK Black Pride 2024 was a resounding success, with thousands of attendees enjoying a celebration of culture, identity, and community. The technical production provided by STLS played a pivotal role in delivering a incredible, high-energy event that was both visually stunning and deeply impactful.
