Nickelodeon Adventure Lighting, Audio & Control Upgrade

STLS was commissioned to redesign and upgrade the lighting, audio, and control systems across Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside, a vibrant indoor family entertainment centre. The venue features multiple themed zones inspired by well known Nickelodeon worlds, welcoming families into a fully immersive environment.

The project aimed to replace outdated and unreliable systems, enhance the visual impact of each themed area, and introduce robust, easy to use control that would support daily operation as well as programmed experiences.

The brief;

The existing systems across the venue had become dated, with poor lighting design, failing control infrastructure, and unreliable audio impacting both the guest experience and day to day operation. STLS was tasked with delivering a complete overhaul that would:

Improve lighting quality and visibility across all areas
Incorporate themed lighting aligned with each zone
Upgrade audio for consistency and reliability
Provide a modern & intuitive control system
Bring previously underperforming spaces, such as party rooms, back into full use

Branding and immersive lighting were key, ensuring each space felt distinct and engaging for visitors.

Final Touches

STLS delivered a full venue wide upgrade, including:

Redesign of lighting and audio systems across all zones
Installation of new lighting, audio, and control infrastructure
Integration with existing systems, including rides and fire alarm interfaces
Creation of custom programmed shows and time coded sequences
Full commissioning, programming, and staff training

The venue was divided into multiple themed areas including SpongeBob Driving School, Nick Central, Bikini Bottom, Adventure Bay, and Paw Patrol, each requiring its own lighting style and operational approach.

All works were carried out overnight to avoid disruption to daily operations, requiring careful planning and efficient execution. One of the key challenges was working with limited and unclear documentation of the building’s original control wiring. STLS carried out detailed investigation and testing to fully understand the infrastructure before implementing the new system. Integration with existing ride systems and life safety infrastructure added further complexity, requiring precise coordination and programming.

Final Touches A flexible and immersive system was installed, combining lighting, audio, and advanced control to bring each themed zone to life.

Control Systems used for lighting control and show playback was Pharos LPC and for audio and system integration Q-sys.

Lighting Fixtures were a mixture of Prolight VersaPar fixtures, LEDJ fixtures from the Prolight Concepts range & Prolight moving head fixtures for dynamic effects. Custom programming was developed to synchronise lighting with on site rides and attractions, creating coordinated, time coded experiences that enhance immersion throughout the venue. STLS worked closely with the venue’s operations and maintenance teams to translate creative ideas into practical, reliable solutions.

Overall this Significantly improved lighting quality and themed environments across all zones . Reliable, centralised control for both lighting and audio & fully functional and useable party rooms, now ready for regular use. The main venue now benefits from a robust, immersive, and flexible system that enhances the guest experience while simplifying operations behind the scenes.
