Lighting Great Ormond Street Hospital

There are few things in life more magical than Christmastime in London. Though Christmas 2021 looks vastly different from the London of Christmas Past — fewer light-switch-on festivals, fewer Christmas markets, are some key traditions missing from this year’s holiday season. However, the city has gone all-out on light displays and storefront windows to make sure that Christmas cheer can still be found and this is no different for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is a children’s hospital located in the Bloomsbury area of the London Borough of Camden, and a part of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

I think you will all agree Great Ormond street hospital is the most famous children’s hospital in the world, so we jumped at the chance to be able to light up this iconic location for Christmas. STLS was asked to provide Christmas lighting to the entrance of the hospital, giving at a real wow factor and traditional Christmas feel.

The lighting

As always at Christmas there is so many decretive options to choose from however we felt it was important to give the hospital a warm Christmas feel for 2021. We choose our pea light curtains to create a wall of Christmas lights for the sides of the entrance with a mixture of these being used around the main sign. Along with the fairly light curtains we used 100s of meters of warm white pea lights to create a canopy over the roof this works really well leading up to the entrance.
